FREEDOM TO CHOOSE PARENTAL CHOICE IN EDUCATION THE WALDORF VIEW
Friday, 22 June 2012, 7:30pm

TALK AND DISCUSSION WITH LES BLACK

 FRIDAY, JUNE 22 at 7:30pm

Self-interest is the mark of under-developed Self:  a condition that lays heavily on Canadian social life.  Its antidote arises from the rich soil of diversity of thought, nurtured within a free society.

Educational choice is the foundation of such diversity.  Parents need to be able to make the choice of what is best for their children.

As part of the current educational mosaic in Canada, Waldorf education strives consciously to nurture responsible, individual human freedom in its students.

How do we eliminate obstacles to educational choice?

Les grew up in Toronto and received his B.A. from Bishop's University in Quebec. He attended the University of Lancashire in the U.K. for a Graduate Degree in Education and spent seven years teaching public school in Ontario.  After discovering Waldorf education and joining the faculty at the Toronto Waldorf School, Les took three classes from Grade 1 through Grade 8 (24 years!) as well as teaching movement classes from Grade 3 to Grade 12.  During that time, he studied Spacial Dynamics and became an Institute Graduate.  As a member of the Board of the Waldorf School Association of Ontario (WSAO), Les became increasingly interested in Waldorf education throughout Canada and has now visited every Canadian Waldorf school except two!
