What makes Waldorf Kindergarten so special?
A Waldorf Kindergarten is a warm, beautiful and loving home-like environment. Teachers cultivate a rhythmic and secure daily, weekly and seasonal routine that allows children to blossom fully.
Indoors, children engage in domestic, practical and artistic activities such as cooking, painting, gardening and handicrafts, changing with the seasons and festivals of the year.
The innate imagination and creativity of children at this age are encouraged through storytelling and free play. Toys used are made of natural materials together with other objects from nature.
Outdoors, there is lots of time to play in our natural playground and our magical forest. We cultivate an attitude of love and reverence towards nature. In the daily and weekly rhythms of school life and through the celebration of seasonal festivals, the child’s connection to the living world that sustains us is maintained and strengthened.
In this truly natural, loving and creative environment, the children are given a range of activities and the structure that help them prepare for the next phase of school life.
The warm and supportive atmosphere of the kindergarten also helps the child to develop social skills and self-confidence. Waldorf teachers are attentive to children’s different temperaments and help each child grow in his or her own way.
