At the South Shore Waldorf School Parent and Tot program, parents accompany their very young children to a morning session at our school. While the children play, their parents/guardians can share their caregiving experiences and ask questions. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn a bit more about Waldorf education, and meet new people.
Fridays 10 am-12pm, at the South Shore Waldorf School.
The Spring session will be held on the following dates:
April 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th.
May 7th and 14th.
June 4th and 11th.
Pay by donation. Suggested donation $2-$5 per session. There will be a donation jar in the forest.
Please register to ensure your space.
You can register by emailing program leader Margaret Forsey at: email@example.com
The Parent and Tot Program at the South Shore Waldorf School will look different this school year, as we work to ensure participant’s comfort while following Covid-19 safety measures.
The program will take place in our school’s forest play area, rain or shine.
We will enjoy a forest walk, a circle-time with seasonal rhymes and songs, lots of free play, and a snack. Being in the forest will give us space to social distance, while still enjoying each other’s company in nature.
There will be signs outside of our school building, guiding you to where the program begins. Also, the program is very relaxed, so if you arrive late or need to leave early, that is fine.
There will be hand sanitizer available and we ask you to sanitize your hands on arrival. We also kindly ask that you observe COVID-19 safety protocol, and, if you or your child are displaying any symptoms related to COVID-19, or have interacted with anyone with symptoms, to please stay home.
You can read about our school’s Best Practice’s Policy For COVID-19 in more detail here:
Snack: This year, snack will not be made and provided during the program. Rather, we invite families to each pack their own. Although we will not be sharing food, we can still enjoy snack time together.
Participants are not required to wear masks at this program. However, adults are required to wear one if you enter our school building to use the washroom, so please do pack a mask. We will also have some spare masks on available.
To ensure that you and your child are happy and comfortable during the program, we encourage you to dress appropriately for the weather.
We suggest wearing:
For rainy days: rain boots, rain pants and rain coat.
Dry days: If you are concerned about ticks, we suggest you wear long pants tucked into socks. Ms Margaret will have a natural tick spray and bug spray available for use if needed.
Snow days: We encourage you to wear snow boots, snow pants, a warm winter coat, and a hat, mittens, and scarf.
We will also have a fire in our fire pit during the winter session, to help keep everyone cosy.
We encourage you to pack a changing pad if your child will need one, and perhaps a blanket if you would like to be extra cosy while sitting on the forest floor.
It is recommended that you check your email before heading to the program on Friday mornings, in case it is cancelled due to illness or severe weather. The program will be cancelled if schools are closed due to a storm day.
We look forward to seeing you in the forest!
